 William Carney
I chose Carney for my Last Lecture project because his background story seemed very interesting. He was in the first black regiment in the Union Army. I think that being one of the first people to to do anything from winning the first World Cup to making the first Post It Notes is cool. I think Carney falls into that category. |
 William Carney was the 21st American to win the Medal of Honor, and one of 16 that got it in his regiment. He got it for being extremely brave during the Civil War by risking his life to save the American flag. He got the flag to safety without letting it touch the ground.
